HP Unveils iPAQ 500 for Email by Voice

March 18, 2007 - Have no time to email? Or are just too plain lazy to type? HP has just launched their first smartphone device, the iPAQ 500 Voice Messenger that allows users to reply to email with voice commands, eliminating the need for time-consuming typed replies. Pricing for the iPAQ has not been announced but will be available this spring.

LG Names West Coast Texting Champion

San Diego, April 6th 2007- 21-year old Eli Trosh is now $10,000 richer, thanks to her ability to type text messages quickly. She’s the new west coast champion in LG’s National Texting Championship, where texters compete to be the fastest at sending text messages using LG’s enV handsets. She now goes on to face the east coast champion in the finals on the 21st of April.

Research In Motion Announces Revenue for 2007

Yesterday Research In Motion (RIM), manufacturers of Blackberry devices, released a press release announcing their latest quarterly and annual results. Revenue for the fourth quarter of 2007 was $930.4 million, up 66% from the same quarter last year. Annual revenue was $3.0 billion, 47% above the previous year. Net income for the quarter was $.99 per share, just meeting analyst expectations.

Use the Blackberry Interface in Windows Mobile

RIM is planning to extend the interface for its popular Blackberry devices to the Windows Mobile device platform by using virtualization technology. Running as a separate application the Virtual Blackberry software will allow users to access all Blackberry services and applications including integration with RIM's push email solution. RIM expects to ship the software later this year on Windows Mobile 6 devices.

Verizon Launches Blackberry 8830 With World Roaming

Verizon Wireless today announced in a press release that they will be carrying the Blackberry 8830, which will use both Verizon's CDMA technology and international GSM bands for world roaming. The support for GSM networks will be limited to the 900/1800 bands, which means the phone won't work on domestic GSM networks like Cingular or T-Mobile. These bands are used widely in other parts of the world and will allow users of the 8830 to use their phone for both phone calls and email when traveling in over 150 supported countries.
