400,000 iPhones on China Mobile

 Apple’s negotiation with China Mobile may have fallen through however nothing comes between the Chinese and their iPhone. According to the market research firm In-Stat there are over 400,000 unlocked iPhones running on the China Mobile cellular Network. This not only shows the popularity of the iPhone in Exotic East but also the fact that the Chinese have no qualms shelling out money on Smartphones.

iPhone news roundup: MMS apps, unlocked iphones and software updates, oh my!

 There's quite a few iPhone news floating around out there so here's a quick roundup of the stories for you. First up is a report from the BBC that 20% of the iPhones sold in France so far have been sold unlocked. Second are rumors that a 1.1.3 update is imminent and will bring with it USB mode and voice recording. Last up, a nice little tidbit for those brave souls who have hacked their iPhones. Check out these apps that allow you to address several of the messaging issues, including the ability to reply to an SMS, send one to multiple recipients and create, but not receive, MMS messages.

T-Mobile in Germany to offer unlocked iPhone for mucho dinero

It looks like T-Mobile in Germany was spooked enough by Vodafone's recent lawsuit about the iPhone to decide to sell the phone unlocked. Of course at € 999 (which works out to over $1400) we don't think many people will be jumping at the opportunity. This is the second country where it looks like the iPhone will have to be released unlocked, following reports that the iPhone will be sold unlocked in France. Further reports indicate that Steve Jobs is having a Vodafone logo printed inside his toilet bowl.

I-mate Offering 4 New Phones In The US

 I-Mate are making a push into the US with 4 new models that are due to be released in the next few months. Like Nokia, they are looking to sell the 4 new models in their Ultimate range as unlocked phones, which means that they won't be cheap. But it does mean that you'll be able to use them with any GSM network the world over, and they have a few interesting tricks up their sleeve.
