Sony Ericsson to Cut Costs by EUR300 Million

Sony Ericsson also recently posted their second quarter’s earnings and unlike LG, their profits have dipped. The company’s net profit fell to EUR6 million from EUR220 million a year prior and hence Sony Ericsson will now work on cutting costs by EUR300 million annually.

Sony Ericsson F305 With Motion Gaming

Sony Ericsson today didn’t just unveil camera phones but also released something for the avid gamers. The new Sony Ericsson F305 comes with “Motion Gaming” that allows for horizontal gameplay and also lets the user control the action with a swing or a swipe of the phone. Something reminiscent to the Nintendo Wii.
The phone comes pre-loaded with games like “Bowling”, “Bass fishing” and “Jockey” and also supports motion games developed by Gameloft. The F305 with Motion Gaming will be available in Polar White and Mystic Black in selected markets from Q3 2008. It will be a Quad-Band EDGE phone supporting 850, 900, 1800 and 1900 frequency bands.

Another slick shooter phone unveiled by Sony Ericsson today was the S302 Snapshot. Offering a 2.0 megapixel camera, the phone comes loaded with camera friendly features like Photo light and Photo fix, Video recording and playback and up to 20 MB internal memory and Memory Stick Micro™ (M2™) support.
The S302 Snapshot will be available in Crystal Blue and Thunder Grey in selected markets from Q4 2008. The S302 (and S302c for China markets) will support GSM/GPRS/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900.

Sony Ericsson has successfully managed to raise the bar with its new Cyber-shot slider phone. The C905 boasts of an 8.1 megapixel camera with Xenon camera flash, face detection auto-focus, smart contrast and image stabilizer. Other features include; 2.4” scratch-resistant mineral glass display, support for GPS and Wi-Fi and TV out capabilities.
The C905 Cyber-shot™ will be available in three colours (Night Black, Ice Silver and Copper Gold) in selected markets from Q4 2008. It will support the following networks:
