Cricket Communication Launches My Backup Service

Cricket Communication has begin offering over-the-air data backup services from Asurion. The “My Backup” service saves contacts automatically and one can also import contacts from Microsoft Outlook and Yahoo! Mail! One needs to shell out a monthly fee of $2 to avail this service.

AT&T Mobile TV (MediaFLO) Details

BGR has got all the dirt on the AT&T Mobile TV service that he is r should launch by May 4.  According to BGR, the AT&T customers can subscribe to any of the 3 packages listed below:

    * Mobile TV Limited - $13/month: Includes four channels; Fox Mobile, CBS Mobile, NBC, and NBC News
    * Mobile TV Basic - $15/month: Includes 9 channels; Fox Mobile, CBS mobile, NBC, NBC News, Comedy Central, MTV, Nickelodeon, CNN Mobile and ESPN
    * Mobile TV Plus - $30/month: Includes the nine channels listed above as well as an exclusive Sony Pictures channel

Verizon Updates Terms Of Service

Verizon after getting hit where it hurts the most (the wallet) has now smartened up and defined what they consider “unlimited”. Here is the new clause where Verizon reserves the right to play spoilsport!

“If usage exceeds 5 GB per line during any billing period, we reserve the right to reduce throughput speeds of any application that would otherwise exceed such speed to a maximum of approximately 200 Kbps.  These speeds are subject to change, in our reasonable discretion, in order to address network issues.”

PayForIt Service Launched In The UK

PayForIt Mobile service has been launched in the UK with the support of all licensed UK mobile operators. The micro-payment service will let users pay for low-cost services from a mobile phone and has the blessings of major UK networks like of Vodafone, Orange, 3, O2 and T-Mobile. The need of a credit or debit card is eliminated as the bill is added o the user's bill or deducted from a pay-as-you-go balance.

AT&T Sells Parental Cell Phone Controls

AT&T Inc  launched  the Smart Limits service, which promises to be a godsend for parents and a nightmare for mobile happy teens. The  service let’s parents decide all the vital info pertaining to their child’s cellphone usage. The new service hence puts restrictions on text messages and talk time and set allowances for ring tones and other downloads. AT&T's Smart Limits service will be offered as an add-on for $4.99 per month per line.

"We were certainly hearing from parents who were dismayed at overuse of text or phones," said Carlton Hill, vice president of voice products for AT&T's wireless unit and the mother of two teenagers. "We want to find a way for kids to use phones without having to take the phone away."

Chinese Airline To Introduce Inflight Internet & Cellphone Service

For many of us, traveling by air means being at the mercy of the mind-numbing inflight programming for entertainment.  But that may not be the case any longer for those who would be traveling to China via Shenzhen Airlines. The company announced that their passengers would soon be able to use their mobile phones and connect to the Internet during flights thanks to the Swiss-based technology firm OnAir.

Shenzhen Airlines President Li Kun said: "We are very proud to be the first airline in China to provide passengers with the ability to communicate during flights."

Google Payment Service For Mobile Phone?

We all know about the rumored Google Mobile phone however it is a new mobile service dubbed as Gpay, which is catching everyone’s fancy. Gpay is rumored to be a mobile phone-based payments service by Google, which would be released in conjunction with the “GPhone”.  The existence of Gpay came to be known when a patent fileb by the Internet giants became public. The patent describes how a text message from a mobile phone could trigger a “computer-implemented method of effectuating an electronic on-line payment”.

According to SEOptimise “A payment system would be a logical extra item to make the Google Phone stand out amongst its competitors. Certainly Google would like to have at least one ‘killer application’ before it tried to break the mobile market and a payment system would seem a good solution.”

A new mobile service is in town, which seeks to answer all your queries. Mosio is a Q&A service, which lets a user send and receive questions on their mobile phones. On registering your handset on the Mosio website (still in Beta), you can pose questions to the ultra smart Mosio agents anytime, who then sms the answers to your number. If you have those grey cells in abundance then you can also request to become a Mosio Agent and enlighten the world with your knowledge.

AT&T Launches Video Share Service

Mobile video streaming is becoming quite a trend and today even AT&T announced its plans to launch  a new video-sharing service. The new AT&T Video Share will let subscribers send live video feeds during conversations. One will need to shell out $4.99 a month for 25 minutes of video share use, or $9.99 a month for 60 minutes.

"Ultimately, services such as Video Share will be accessible over any of the three primary screens that customers use most frequently: the wireless device, the PC and the television," the company said in a statement.

Sony Unveils Animax Mobile

Sony Pictures Television International (SPTI) will launch soon launch the Animax Mobile channel in Canada and Australia. The service is a mobile version of Sony’s  Japanese anime channel currently available across Asia, Latin America, Central Europe and Germany. Canadians will be able to access the channel on the Bell Mobile network and would require 3G handsets to avail to this service. The service is targeted at the 14-34 demographic and some of the series to be shown include; Blood+, Last Exile, ROD the TV, and The Count of Monte Cristo.

Stream iTunes Playlists On Mobile Via Melodeo

Melodeo Inc. is planning to launch a service that will let users stream their iTunes playlists to mobile phones. The idea being that users no longer will require their portable players to get a complete mobile music experience. The company is still working on the logistics and they have not also decided on the pricing.
 
“We're doing everything we can to follow the current legal guidelines and standard industry practices where the legal guidelines are not crystal clear," said David Dederer, Melodeo's vice president for music services.

Ask Mobile GPS Service Announced

IAC/InterActiveCorp unveiled their new mobile phone service, Ask Mobile GPS," which will be available on the Sprint Nextel Corp Network. One can subscribe to the service for $9.99 per month and users can then access maps and other location-based services via their cellphones.
