The newly released Samsung Glyde was reviewed over by the folks overs at Phone Scoop who have mixed feelings about the phone. The touch screen works most of the time but it does take some time, getting used to it. Signal and voice quality was found to be average too. However the Glyde did win brownie points for its UI, camera and multi-media features.
The Wired Blog played around with the new LG Vu phone that was running AT&T's Mobile TV service with FLO. As promised by AT&T there was no buffering of videos and watching streaming live TV was quite an “experience”. The only downfall being that the service wont be operatble where there is no 3G network.
The folks over at Brighthand reviewed the Sprint HTC Mogul PPC-6800, which is a high-end Windows Mobile device. On reviewing, the website was impressed with its features like; EV-DO broadband, wireless capabilities and support for SDHC. However they did find using the touchscreen exhausting and missed a physical keypad. The combined USB/audio jack port was seen as a let down too.
The folks over at GSM Arena got their hands on the Samsung U700 and they give it a “recommend” tag. The phone scored brownie points for its sleek ergonomics, its intuitive interface, high-quality camera and instant data transfers via HSDPA. However lack of FM radio, call filtering and support for only QCIF video recording were listed as its disadvantages.
Phone Scoop recently reviewed the T-Mobile HotSpot service which provides high-speed wireless Internet access to its subscribers and hops from GSM to Wi-Fi automatically. The service was given brownie points for its decent coverage and easy set up. However at times the quality did falter and the fact that only two handsets support this service was found a tad limiting.
Mobile Burn got their hands on the ultra hip LG KE850 Prada Phone and was enthralled by its elegant design, its touch sensitive controls and give it a much coveted "Recommended" rating. However the user interface was found to be tricky and the music player somewhat weak.
3G reviews the LG Shine and the website has taken a real shine to this sexy little thing! The metallic casing and slim ergonomics are drool worthy! Also this one ain't just a pretty face and includes features like; EDGE, microSD card, multimedia player etc. The downside? Maintaining something so pretty is hard work! Well isn't that life?
