Pantech Elvis hits the FCC
Added on 2008-04-16 09:01:00
by Alfredo Padilla

The FCC dropped a new Pantech handset on us today code-named the Elvis. All we know about it at this point is that it's a CDMA slider with Bluetooth. The sketch of the phone reveals a rather squat form factor, but of course those sketches are often just mockups that bear little resemblance to the final product. Pantech makes the Helio Ocean (review) and Pantech Duo (review), both higher end devices, so we have to wonder if the Elvis is bound for Helio or will be sporting some Windows Mobile action. Links to the documentation and a bigger picture after the jump.

First Call: Pantech Duo
Added on 2007-11-01 07:50:00
by Alfredo Padilla

The Pantech Duo is the latest Windows Mobile Standard handset to join AT&T's stable, and it has been eagerly awaited by fans of Windows Mobile because of its innovative form factor. Like it's cousin the Helio Ocean (also made by Pantech), the Duo has a dual sliding mechanism that reveals a full QWERTY keyboard when slid to the side and a standard phone keypad when slid up. Although a good idea in principle, the Duo's implementation leaves something to be desired. Read all of our first impressions after the jump.

by Emily Price

Boy Genius got their hands on the Pantech Duo and has a hands-on up on their site with the device that still hasn’t actually been announced for AT&T. They thought the Duo has a pretty good sound quality and didn’t think battery life was much of a concern. You can check out all their thoughts on the device as well as a pretty decent photo gallery here.

Pantech Introduces New Line of International Phones
Added on 2007-03-30 20:08:00
by Rusty Weiss

Pantech has introduced to the world, via the recent CTIA show, mobile devices which will be released outside the U.S.

The line of International phones that Pantech rolled out was quite extensive.  These international beauties, despite the low light in these photos, are simply unable to hide a crisp, vivid display, not to mention a very snappy metallic exterior.  Each model appears to have a gratifying and fun design.

Pantech creates worlds thinnest phone
Added on 2007-03-18 17:32:00
by Emily Price

Last week we told you about Pantech's new magnetic phone which plans to be the first phone in the world to use magnetic levitation technology to slide open. It's seems that the  phone is also trying to earn another title "World's slimmest phone." The current title holder is the Samsung Ultra series of hansets that come in at a tiny 12.9mm, the Pantech phone is expected to be 9.9mm dwarfing the competition.

Packed into that small package will be an mp3 player and a digital camera all at a price tag under $300. We can't wait to see this one in action.

Magnetic Pantech Phone In The Works
Added on 2007-03-15 23:29:00
by Tanya Palta

While spiritual levitation remains a distance dream for  many of us, magnetic levitation is a whole different ball game. Before you start conjuring something horrid let me just say that a new mobile phone is in the pipeline based on the principle of Magnetic levitation or "Maglev"! Hence expect the slider phone to be ultra slim (9.9mm) and have a slider design.

According to Pantech spokesperson Yang Yu-in "This will be the world's first cell phone based on magnetic levitation technology. The top half of the slider moves via magnetic power. Thanks to magnetic forces, its users will be able to almost automatically slide open their phones and vice versa."!

Pantech C3 By Cingular Is Tiny
Added on 2007-03-09 08:45:00
by Tanya Palta

Size does not matter, well at least in the case of mobile phones! Take for instance the Pantech C3 mobile phone which is available on the Cingular Network now. The handset weighs 2.5 ounces and measures just 1.7 inches wide and 2.7 inches tall. However all this comes at a cost, as the handset lacks multimedia features like; a high-res camera, fast web-access and a multimedia player! Me thinks just skip this one and go for something which is BIG on features!
