by Tanya Palta

The 3G iPhone is on its way and the latest Beta 5 iPhone Network.plist file confirms this. Looks like iPhone users via settings can turn on 3G and according to the guy who discovered this:

“Turning 3G on will just crash the phone if you use an EDGE phone. If you do not believe me, then decrypt the beta5 rootfs dmg, and see for yourself in /Applications/Preferences.app/Network.plist”

iPhone 1.1.2 Firmware Out Now
Added on 2007-11-08 20:59:00
by Richard Baguley

Engadget is reporting that Apple has just released version 1.1.2 firmware for the iPhone to coincide with the UK launch of the iPhone on Friday. The UK version comes with 1.1.2 pre-installed, but it looks like the changes for the new version are relatively minor - mostly just different keyboard layouts for European languages and a few other tweaks.

The other big question is if the new version will stop the various hacks that open up the phone; initial reports from UK press who are reviewing the device are that is does block the Jailbreak and AppInstaller programs from working. We'll install the update and test it ourselves as soon as possible; watch this space.
