First Call: LG enV2

The LG enV2 showed up at our offices today. The successor to the popular enV from Verizon the enV2 is slightly smaller than its predecessor with a few design changes, mostly on the exterior. In particular the already small external display has become even smaller and the keypad has received what we can only imagine they hope is a "cool" look. We'll leave you to decide how much you like it. The big feature of the enV2 is that it opens up to reveal a large QWERTY keyboard and 2.4 inch internal display, which makes it perfect for heavy texters.
This is a similar form factor to the LG Voyager (review), although the enV2 is smaller and lacks the external touch screen of the Voyager. Our first impressions of the phone are that it fits comfortably in your hand when closed, but like the Voyager we're not sure we like the layout of the keyboard. We also have to say that it's a little brick-like. We showed it to some co-workers in the office and asked "hot or not". We got four nots and three hots, interestingly the ladies all seemed to like it while the guys did not. What are our thoughts? Check out our review next week to find out.
The enV2 is available now for $129.99 with a two-year contract or $179.99 without. Oh, and if you want more pretty pictures you'll find them after the jump.

LGVX10000 has surfaced on the web. The keyboard on the LGVX100000 looks a lot roomier than the current enV keyboard, and the inside screen is pretty hot. We'll keep out eyes pealed for more details on this one and let you know what we find out.

LG enV in orange

We're not huge fans of the enV, but we know enV enthusiasts love their fold and QWERTY action. Now, they can love it in a burnt orange color. Nothing has really changed from the previous enV, with a focus on VCast and the like, but it still has a two megapixel camera, A2DP support, EV-DO (and support for DUN pairing, if nerd types flirt with the enV) and of course, the heart of the device, the QWERTY keyboard. Right now, it'll run you $150 with a two year contract.
[Thanks, Chris!]

Right now the East and West are battling it out for the NCAA championship. At the end of March and April East and West will be involved in another battle: The National Texting Championship. LG is sponsoring the contest with $25,000 in prizes. Contestants are required to have an enV or V phone with active Verizon service and meet March 31st in Hollywood or April 21st in NY to battle it out.
To keep the contest fair contestants will be divided up into groups where all of the contestants in the group will be required to text the same message to the same number with the first contestant to complete the phrase winning each round. In addition to the grand prize the contest also promises thousands of consolation prizes and freebies for contestants including LG electronics.
