Palm Centro hits 1,000,000 units sold
Added on 2008-03-31 21:23:00
by Mark Brezinski
Congrats, Palm Centro, on your one-millionth unit sold. That's right: if you pool together the 10 countries the Centro is available in, one million of the little guys have found themselves loving homes. Like we said in our review of this scrappy little device, if you can offer what everyone else is offering, but do it for less money, you will sell one-million units. Given the insane number of cobwebs hanging from the Palm OS rafters, we're surprised the elderly interface had any fight left in it. It just goes to show that a zippy new case and a low price can do wonders for sales, even if the phone has a bad keyboard.

New Palm Centro On Sprint Details Revealed
Added on 2007-09-27 10:33:00
by Richard Baguley
Whoops: looks like Sprint and Palm managed to scoop themselves, as the site for the new Palm Centro went live hours before their press conference announcing the new phone in New York. The site doesn't reveal the full specs of the new smart phone, but we do know that it will cost $99.99, after a $100 mail-in rebate. It looks to be exactly the same phone that PC Mag cell phone writer Sascha Seagan got some hands-on time with a month or so back, when he described it as having”"the tiniest QWERTY keyboard I've ever seen. It's infinitesimal: it's actually impossible to type on this thing with two thumbs." We'll bring you the full details of the new phone when they are released; right now, the site just lists a few teaser details and the price.

Palm Centro To Launch on 12th In Europe
Added on 2007-09-02 21:59:00
by Richard Baguley
Is the new Palm Centro going to be launched on the 12th? It looks like that might be the case, in Europe at least: a new teaser page on the European Palm web site indicates that a new Palm smartphone is due to hit on that date, and the new Centro is the only one that we know about. Of course, it could be some secret thing that they have manged to keep rumor free, but that doesn't happen often these days. Oh, and you can enter to win 5 of the new phones if you happen to be in Europe. Sorry, USAians; you can't enter.

Official looking Palm Centro pics leaked
Added on 2007-08-25 20:06:00
by Alfredo Padilla
More "official" looking pics of the upcoming Palm Centro (aka Palm Gandolf) for Sprint have been leaked. We have to admit that the device looks much nicer this time around than the previous fuzzy pics, but of course if this is an official photo Palm's PR people have gotten a chance to pretty it up some. We'll wait until we have one in for review before we make a final call though, it's expected to be available via Sprint.
