Vodafone UK launches LG KF750

Vodafone UK has launched the LG KF750. Specs for the KF750 include a 5 megapixel camera, 2.4 inch display, and HSDPA. The handset can be purchased for somewhere between 250 and 491 pounds depending on your contract choice.

Samsung Steel headed to Vodafone

The Samsung Steel is headed to Vodafone. The handset will have GSM/GPRS/EDGE, a 3 megapixel camera, Bluetooth, and microSD expansion. No word yet on pricing or a release date for the device.

The Nokia 6124 will soon be available exclusively on Vodafone in Vodafone markets. The Nokia 6124 offers 3G connectivity and is based on S60 and Symbian OS. On purchasing the phone, customers will be privy to the full suite of communications, content, Internet services and browsing, through seamlessly integrated Vodafone services. The Nokia 6124 classic will start shipping in Vodafone markets in the second quarter.

Unlocked Treo 500 in UK?

Reg Hardware is reporting that Palm will release an unlocked version of its Treo 500 smartphone by the end of next month in the UK. The unlocked version will have features similar to the 500v which include; Bluetooth, tri-band GSM/GPRS connectivity, microSD card support and 3G.

Nokia & Vodafone To Launch Web 2.0 Services

Looks like Nokia and Vodafone have pulled up their socks post Android. The two are collaborating to launch some new cutting-edge mobile phone features which would take advantage of  Vodafone's mobile and Web 2.0 services and Nokia handsets.

"Web 2.0 is all about social networking and enabling people to connect with each other in new ways," said Anssi Vanjoki, executive vice president and general manager of Nokia Multimedia, in a statement. "Bringing location and context awareness to Web 2.0 services is the next stage in the web development and Nokia multimedia computers enable people to participate (in) their favorite Internet services on-the-go."

The companies said customers would be able to use Nokia handsets to access the Internet "at the click of a button." They will also be offered a full suite of communications, content and Internet services including browsing capability over Vodafone networks.

Samsung SGH-F700 On Vodafone This November

The Samsung SGH-F700 aka the Croix will be available in Europe beginning early November on Vodafone's 3G broadband (HSDPA) network.  Vodafone users will be  able to fully make use of the phone’s 3.6 Mbps HSDPA capabilities and experience fast access to the Internet.

"We are proud to introduce this new type of innovative multimedia handset. Not only have we considered the latest technology, but also the usability to enhance the user's multimedia experience," said Geesung Choi, President of Samsung's Telecommunications Network Business. Sony Ericsson v640i on Vodafone

Palm launches Treo 500v on Vodafone

Vodafone has launched the all new Treo 500v on their network. The Treo 500v is the first really new handset design to come from Palm in several years and the first Treo to not have a touchscreen. The handset runs Windows Mobile 6, and has Bluetooth stereo support, microSD expansion, and a built-in 2 megapixel camera.

Discovery Channel Launches Two New Mobile Channels In UK

Discovery Channel unveiled two new channels, which are the mobile versions of its popular Discovery Turbo and Animal Planet channels. The mobile channels are available on the Vodafone and Orange networks as well as the Sky Mobile service. The channels will be streamed over the 3G Network and is packaged into one-hour blocks.

Vodafone To Keep Verizon Stake

Vodafone in a press statement announced that it has no plans to sell part of its minority stake in Verizon Wireless. To them the best interest of its shareholders lies in Vodafone retaining 45 per cent stake in Verizon Wireless, which is worth an estimated $54bn.

“Vodafone announces that it has decided not to exercise its rights under its agreement with Verizon Communications to sell to Verizon up to US$10 billion of Vodafone’s interest in Verizon Wireless,” the company said.

The inimitable Boy Genius is reporting that Vodafone in Spain will soon be launching the Blackberry Pearl 2. The Pearl 2 is rumored to have external MicroSD card slot, 3.2 megapixel camera, stereo Bluetooth, Windows Media DRM & MTP support. Expect it to hit Spain and the rest of the world by September 2007.

The BlackBerry Curve 8310 Smartphone is now available on the mobile carrier Vodafone, Germany. The smart phone comes bundled with the Vodafone Navigator software, which works in conjunction with the phone’s in-built GPS functionality. The BlackBerry Curve 8310 is available now from Vodafone in Germany for 99,90 Euro in combination with a Vodafone Business Kombipaket Zuhause 240.

Vodafone Denies Verizon Offer

Vodafone has denied  that it is contemplating a $160 billion offer for U.S. operator Verizon Communication. For the past few days there was a lot of speculation about the acquisition but Vodafone has put these rumors to rest by releasing a short press statement.

"Vodafone notes press speculation that it is considering a possible offer for Verizon Communications. Vodafone wishes to make it clear that it has no plans to make such an offer," said the company in a statement to the London Stock Exchange on Monday.

Vodafone To Ship Handsets To Developing Countries

Vodafone will start shipping low cost handsets to developing countries like South Africa as part of their new mobile initiative. The handsets in question are the Vodafone 125 and the Vodafone 225, which have been manufactured by China's ZTE Corporation.

"The Vodafone 125 and Vodafone 225 handsets are intended to help drive mobile penetration, and will provide access to services for people in emerging markets that are already commonplace in Western Europe," the company says.

Funmobile Pushes into US with New Games

Funmobile logoHong Kong-based Funmobile Ltd., developer of the funmobile line of interactive games, ringtones and wallpapers for mobile phones, announced at CTIA that it’s making a major push into the US with the release of raft of new games that focus on action/adventure, strategy and puzzles.

Some of the new titles for 2007 include 3D Drift, a three-dimensional driving adventure; Jail Break, where players try to wiggle out of prison; and Rome: The Throne of Destiny, a game in which players decide who will be the new leader of the Roman Empire.

Vodafone Links Mobile Phones to Internet Phone Services

Vodafone logoAt CeBIT 2007 in Hannover, Germany, Vodafone Group Plc showed off a new technology that would allow cell phone users to connect with users of Internet phone services such as Skype. Mobile phone users would be able to see if their Internet phone contacts were online and connect with them instantly.
