Parting Shots: LG Chocolate 3
Added on 2008-09-05 15:51:00
by Marianne Schultz

Our review of the LG Chocolate 3 is done! We liked its increased internal storage, the ease of use of its music player software, and its battery life when playing music and browsing the web.  We didn't like the new flip factor at all, preferring the slick slider style of its predecessors, nor did we like its poor talk time battery life.  Right now, we think the Chocolate 3 is priced a little higher than it's really worth and isn't a massive upgrade over the Chocolate 2.  Read our full review here for all the details.

Gizmodo's put the Samsung Instinct through the paces and published a review. They say the phone isn't an iPhone killer, but it is a very good feature phone, the best they've seen from Sprint or Samusng. There biggest issue with the phone? The web browser. Accessorize Me: V-Moda Vibe Duo Headphone Review
Added on 2008-03-10 14:53:00
by Alfredo Padilla

For those who have an iPhone (read review) you know that your selection of compatible headphones is pitifully weak. I'm not talking about using any pair of 3.5mm headphones here, I mean if you want headphones that provide high quality audio for music, a working microphone for calls and a button for both call and music playback functionality you don't have a lot to choose from. If you walk into an Apple store your choices, aside from Apple's own headphones, will be between ungainly and messy extensions that allow you to use any headphone and the V-Moda Vibe Duo. The latter will certainly appeal to many, but you might want to think twice about it. Read on for our reasons.

The guys at Gizmodo played around with the newbie Sidekick Slide and gave it a resounding thumbs up. The phone scored brownie points for its intuitive interface and the solid build quality. The keyboard was found to be a little unconformable but overall they’re very little complaints.

Crave's Hands On Review Of The Porsche P'9521
Added on 2007-10-23 10:58:00
by Tanya Palta

The extremely lucky folks over at Crave got their hands on the Porsche P'9521 phone and is it wrong to be a tad jealous?  Crave is quick to point out that the phone is not just a marketing gimmick and is a genuine attempt from the company to replicate the Porsche experience.

The handset  is found to be “chunky” but the phone makes it up by sporting features like built-in accelerometer, 3.2-megapixel cameras with auto-focus and dual LED photo lights.  So what’s the verdict? Nifty but quite exorbitant (£800).

Gizmodo's Hands On Reviews Of The Viewty
Added on 2007-09-05 03:07:00
by Tanya Palta

The enterprising folks of Gizmodo did a quick hands on review of the LG KU990 Viewty and reported that the phone is far from the iPhone Killer it was touted to be. The UI was found to be not very responsive and Gizmodo feels that the touch screen left much to be desired. The only saving grace? The 5MP camera.

T-Mobile HotSpot@Home Review
Added on 2007-08-16 14:26:00
by Richard Baguley

When is a cell phone not a cell phone? When it makes calls over a WiFi connection. That's the promise of T-Mobile's new HotSpot@Home service; for an extra $9.99 a month on top of your existing phone bill, you get unlimited calls using your home WiFi connection. That could be a huge draw for those looking to replace a home phone with a cell phone, and it also works at T-mobile hotspots on the road; a big plus for frequent travelers. Here's what we found when we tested it out...

T-Mobile Wing review goes live
Added on 2007-06-06 13:21:00
by Randall Bennett

Our review of the T-Mobile Wing just hit the main site, and our tests found some pretty interesting results.  The phone actually just took the crown as the top rated phone in our tests because the battery life is absolutely stellar.

14 hours of talk time.  10 and a half hours of music playback.  Nine hours of web browsing.

Not kidding.

The battery life may be stellar, but anyone looking for an excellent camera might want to look elsewhere.  Despite spec'ing at two megapixels, we found that the camera didn't beat the 1.3-megapixel cameras in either the Motorola Q or T-Mobile Dash.

Put the bad camera with a seemingly laggy interface and you might want to give the phone a go in person before you plunk down that cash.  This is the first phone we've tested with WinMo 6, and it does sport the same 200MHZ processor as other HTC devices, so we're not sure if it's T-Mobile's custom software lagging the device or if WinMo 6 is just heavier.  Either way, read the full review here.

The Phone was appreciated for its slim ergonomics and clamshell design however it did suffer from a poor battery life. The reviewer also felt that the interface left much to be desired.

All About Symbian Hands On With P1i
Added on 2007-05-18 08:59:00
by Alfredo Padilla

Sony Ericsson announced the newest Symbian UIQ smart phone in its P-Series lineup just a couple of weeks ago. GSM Arena did a review ASAP, but now we have the second hands on with the device from All About Symbian's Rafe Blandford. There's some good stuff in there, including a completely different opinion about the keyboard than GSM Arena had (Rafe likes it, GSM hates it). We have to admit that seeing these reviews is causing some serious overseas envy as the lack of 850 Mhz GSM and North America 3G means we probably won't see the P1i on our shores any time soon.

GSMArena Reviews the Sony Ericsson P1i
Added on 2007-05-09 12:19:00
by Alfredo Padilla

Well, it seems like only yesterday that the Sony Ericsson P1i and we already have a review. Wait... it was yesterday. Anyhow, the folks over at GSM Arena have moved quick like a cat and posted the first review of the P1i that we've seen anywhere. The verdict: it's the best UIQ phone out there right now, but they hate the keyboard. The keyboard on the P1i is the same dual use one as that found on the M600, and it seems to be one that you either love or hate. Not that it matters for those of us in North America as Sony Ericsson has again snubbed us by leaving out the 850 band and U.S. 3G.

Added on 2007-05-07 01:37:00
by Tanya Palta

i-mate JAQ3 Pocket PC is up on the Brighthand website and they cannot help but be impressed by this smartphone. The JAQ3 scores brownie points for its solid construction, its jog wheel and the on board management suite. However the very fact that the phone lacked a microSD slot or 3G was nothing short of blasphemous!

Nokia N95Pocket Lint has done an in-depth review of the Nokia N95 and the phone impresses with its 5MP camera,Wi-Fi connectivity, 3G, HSDPA and GPS abilities! However the lack of QWERTY Keyboard bummed them out and they actually call the phone "Jack of all trades master of none". Ouch that got to hurt Nokia's feelings!

Dear Diary, the HTC Vox S710 is my BFF ♥
Added on 2007-04-28 01:13:00
by Rusty Weiss

A member of Pocketnow.com is offering their thoughts on the HTC Vox S710 by posting a journal of sorts, reviewing the device with daily updates.

The blogger, Brandon Miniman, was recently selected for the Microsoft Most Valuable Professional (MVP) award in the Mobile Devices realm. As such, he is very qualified to make a good, solid assessment of the S710.

The Vox S710 sports a couple of firsts in the mobile industry. First off, it is the first to test the proverbial market waters with the Windows Mobile 6 platform. Secondly, it is the first smartphone to be laced with a slide-out keyboard.

The S710, as was adeptly pointed out by Miniman, is a very non-descript device on the surface. That is, until people take notice with the keyboard, and the platform.

We are looking forward to some more insight on this very intriguing device.

Mobile Burn Reviews Samsung UPStage
Added on 2007-04-16 23:40:00
by Tanya Palta

The uber cool Samsung UPStage cell phone was reviewed by Mobile Burn and failed to impress! While the UPStage was appreciated for its chic design and music capabilities, however it fails when it comes to the bigger picture! Display was a disappointment and the keypad was cramped. The review calls the phone "tedious" and gives it a "not recommended" tag! Ouch that has to hurt and my sympathies to Samsung!

Added on 2007-03-21 02:43:00
by Tanya Palta

Red is the new Black in mobile world and the folks over at Cnet reviewed the Red Samsung Sync SGH-A707. Looks like the handset for its price isn't a bad deal at all and one can be privy to goodness like; HSDPA networks, stereo Bluetooth and Cingular Music Service! What Samsung could have avoided was the average call quality and the non-intuitive keypad.

Brighthand Reviews The BlackBerry 8800
Added on 2007-03-12 22:40:00
by Tanya Palta

The website Brighthand did a short hands on review of the Cingular BlackBerry 8800 and lets just see how it fared! The smartphone has some nifty add ons which were missed in previous models including; GPS and multimedia features like music and video support! However the keyboard and the trackball were hardly intuitive! The former was found to be "squishy" and the latter cumbersome to operate. But all is not lost and the RIM BlackBerry 8800 left an overall positive impression on the reviewer.
