3G LG Prada Hits Japan

A 3G version of the LG Prada has cropped up in Japan. The 3G L852i will be available through NTT DoCoMo Japan and also has support for WCDMA and HSDPA.

Japan's DoCoMo to tie up with Google

NTT DoCoMo Inc., Japan's leading mobile phone operator has tied up with Google Inc. to improve its Internet services. DoCoMo subscribers via the company’s i-mode service, will be able to access Google based services like search, e-mail and photo features.

NTT DoCoMo, Inc. Japan made its plans public to test out an experimental Super 3G system for mobile communication. NTT DoCoMo hopes to achieve downlink transmission rate of 300Mbps as Super 3G features low-latency data transmission. For the uninitiated Super 3G is a superior version of High-Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA) and High-Speed Uplink Packet Access (HSUPA) and DoCoMo sees it as a logical step before its transition to 4G.

NTT DoCoMo and RIM announced Japanese-language support for the BlackBerry 8707h smartphone. The handset will now allw user to compose and read Japanese emails as well as input Japanese text and browse Japanese websites.The Japanese language BlackBerry software is expected to available this summer.

NTT DoCoMo recalls SIM cards

The Japanese cell phone retailer NTT DoCoMo announced a recall of 240,000 SIM cards due to roaming issues with the cards. NTT DoCoMo said that the cards could malfunction when users attempt to use them outside of Japan and plans to send replacement cards to all effected users.
