RIM Renames the Kickstart, Gameloft Announces Death Race and Much More

Here is today’s round up of stories that are catching the attention of the mobile connoisseur and the tech industry. RIM has rechristened the BlackBerry KickStart 8220 to the Pearl 8220 and Telus Mobility expands their portfolio. More after the jump:

Chuck Norris Mobile Game

Gameloft announced a licensing agreement with Chuck Norris, to produce a mobile game titled, Bring on the Pain. The game will be launched in August 2008.

Wimbledon 2008 for Mobilephones by Gameloft

Gameloft has released the Wimbledon 2008 tennis mobile game, which should be ready by June 2008. The game features five training mini-games and also has single and double modes. The mobile game would be compatible with most Java based cellphones.

CSI Mobile Game Coming Soon

Fans of the hit TV show CSI can now test out their own sleuthing skills. Gameloft and CBS Mobile will launch the CSI Mobile Game next week. The game will be based on "CSI: Miami," and will be available on AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint and Verizon in the United States. The launch will coincide with the sixth season premiere of CSI: Miami on CBS in the US


Gonzague de Vallois, VP of Gameloft, said: "The CSI franchise set the bar for primetime crime drama television by engaging viewers on all levels. The mobile games will expand the CSI storyline into a fun and interactive experience."

Live Free or Die Hard Mobile Game

Gameloft has bought the video game rights of the upcoming Bruce Willis action movie "Live Free or Die Hard" for cell phones. The game would entail gamers role-playing John McClane who has to safeguard the technological infrastructure of the US.

Gameloft To Release Shrek 3 Mobile Game

Everyone's favorite Ogre, Shrek will soon enthrall us with all his antics right onto our mobile phones! News is just pouring in that Videogame publisher Gameloft has bought the rights of "Shrek the Third"  Mobile Game and will release it simultaneously with the film's May 18 theatrical release.

"The action-adventure game allows you to play as Shrek or Dragon," said Gonzague de Vallois, vp publishing at Gameloft. "The gameplay will be well-suited for our target audience since it is platform-style with various difficulty levels for the novice to the experienced gamer."

Gameloft games come to Blackberry

Monday one of Europe's biggest makers of mobile games announced that it is selling games for Blackberry phones. The games will be priced between $5.99-$7.99 and will include popular titles Asphalt Urban GT 2, LOST, and price of Persia The Two Thrones with more titles expected to be released later on.
