RIM unveiled the Facebook® for BlackBerry® Smartphones yesterday at the CTIA and T-Mobile USA has been selected to be the first carrier to provide the new software application to its customers.

"Facebook is one of the fastest growing web destinations among BlackBerry smartphone users and it has become an important element in the evolving fabric of personal communications," said Mike Lazaridis, President and Co-CEO at Research In Motion. "Facebook and RIM share a vision for enhanced mobile communications and social networking based on open, standards-based platforms and this has allowed us to produce a rich mobile application for Facebook users that leverages the push-based architecture, multimedia features and industry-leading usability of the BlackBerry solution."

Facebook iPhone Friendly

Facebook, the leading social networking site in the world is now iPhone friendly. Facebook for iPhone can be accessed here and has been designed keeping in mind the phone’s size. News feed, messaging and status updates can all be accessed via the site and one will also appreciate the newly designed interface, which keeps the iPhone’s touchscreen in mind.

"The iPhone has not even been out for two months but has already changed the way people think about the mobile web," Facebook engineer Joe Hewitt wrote on the company's official blog.

"Today we are taking our first step into that new mobile world with a new Facebook website designed just for iPhone."
