Motorola Preparing an 8MP Cameraphone?

According to Boy Genius, Motorola is planning to unleash an 8-megapixel-camera phone in the near future. Codenamed Alexander, the cellphone is rumored to have built-in NVIDIA chip, GPS capabilities, and UIQ and touch screen.

Sony Ericsson S302 Snapshot

Another slick shooter phone unveiled by Sony Ericsson today was the S302 Snapshot. Offering a 2.0 megapixel camera, the phone comes loaded with camera friendly features like Photo light and Photo fix, Video recording and playback and up to 20 MB internal memory and Memory Stick Micro™ (M2™) support.

The S302 Snapshot will be available in Crystal Blue and Thunder Grey in selected markets from Q4 2008. The S302 (and S302c for China markets) will support GSM/GPRS/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900.

Sony Ericsson C905 Cyber-shot

Sony Ericsson has successfully managed to raise the bar with its new Cyber-shot slider phone. The C905 boasts of an 8.1 megapixel camera with Xenon camera flash, face detection auto-focus, smart contrast and image stabilizer.  Other features include; 2.4” scratch-resistant mineral glass display, support for GPS and Wi-Fi and TV out capabilities.

The C905 Cyber-shot™ will be available in three colours (Night Black, Ice Silver and Copper Gold) in selected markets from Q4 2008. It will support the following networks:

    * C905: GSM/GPRS/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900 UMTS/HSDPA 2100.
    * C905a: GSM/GPRS/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900 UMTS/HSDPA 850/1900/2100
    * C905c: GSM/GPRS/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900.

Samsung Announces 8MP CMOS Sensor for Phones

Samsung continues to make leaps in the camera phone market. The mobile giants announced the availability of their new 8 mega pixel CMOS sensor which measures a mere 10.5 x 11.5 x 9.4-mm and would be seen in future handsets around first half of 2008.

LV 2008 DSLR Phone

Is that a DSLR? Is that a mobile? Wait its both, or so as it claims. Meet the LV 2008 phone/camera which aims to be a convergence device and is retailing in China for around 130USD. The phone promises “true zooming capability” since an optical lens of any focal length can be hooked up to the camera module.  However with a dismissal 1.3 MP resolution , we wonder what the point of the whole device is?

Sony Ericsson Launches Photographer Of The Year Contest

Those belonging to the old school of photography may cringe whenever they hear the term  “camera phones” however no one can doubt their popularity. Sony Ericsson which claims to “spearheading a photographic revolution',” has launched the 2007 Camera phone Photographer of the Year. Not open to professional photographers, the competition ends at 3rd December 2007. Open to only UK residents, prices include an all-expenses paid trip 'covering five cities', starting and ending in London.Entries can be uploaded and viewed at www.sonyericsson.com/thesearch

Motorola And Kodak Working On 5MP Cameraphones

Motorola and Kodak have joined forces to bring out 5 megapixel camera phones to the consumers! Even though I have never been a big fan of cameraphones, I applaud their brave endeavor. According to the deal, Kodak  will put their newly developed CMOS chips in the Motorola phones. No further details were released to the press, but keep watching this space for updates.
