Apple to allow subsidized iPhones?
Added on 2008-06-08 21:42:00
by Alfredo Padilla

A report out of the Financial Times once again brings up the idea that Apple will allow carriers to begin subsidizing the price of the iPhone (review) beginning with the new 3G version that should be released later this month and announced tomorrow. Apple had previously required carriers to sell the iPhone at full price and required carrier partners to share a portion of the monthly revenues from iPhone carriers. It may be that resistance from many carriers to such a model has led Apple to change their approach in an effort to ensure that the iPhone is sold in as many markets as possible.

3G iPhone Coming in 60 Days?
Added on 2008-04-08 04:42:00
by Tanya Palta

Walt Mossberg who is the Wall Street Journal's resident Apple expert predicts that a 3G iPhone may just make its debut within the next two weeks.

Mossberg in an interview to Beet.TV talked about the iPhone:
"When the iPhone came out it became crystal clear that you were going to be able to carry in your pocket something which gave you really quite a good video experience. Big screen, high definition, still you can carry it in your purse or pocket. But again, broadband on these cell phone networks is limited. And I'm not talking about the fact that iPhone isn't 3G, it will be 3G in 60 days."
