Security Vulnerability Detected in BlackBerry Attachment Service

RIM on their website acknowledged that there is a security vulnerability in the PDF distiller of some versions of the BlackBerry Attachment Service. Hence advice BlackBerry users to update to BlackBerry Enterprise Server software version 4.1 Service Pack 6 (4.1.6). For more information on this issue go here.

BlackBerry Roadmap oF Roger Wireless Leaked

A leaked BlackBerry roadmap of Canada’s Roger Wireless, shows the release dates of upcoming BlackBerry devices. The BlackBerry Bold will see a July 25th release, where as the BlackBerry KickStart will release in  mid/late September. The much-anticipated Javelin should be available by late  November or early December.

CrackBerry is reporting that the BlackBerry Kickstart will be sold by T-Mobile for just $49.99 with a standard 2-year contract! Sounds a little far-fetched but RIM does want this one to be as consumer friendly as possible.

BlackBerry Thunder Touch Screen Phone?

It looks like Boy Genius Report picked up some information about the upcoming BlackBerry Thunder touchscreen device. According to them the phone will be a Verizon exclusive, at least initially, and will not sport a physical keyboard. We're not sure how much BlackBerry fans are going to enjoy losing their beloved keyboard, but we guess everyone is competing with the iPhone (review) now.

Opera Mini 4.1 update for Blackberry and Palm

Opera Mini 4.1 has gotten an update for Blackberry and Palm users. Blackberry users now have the option to use only WiFi, and Palm users have improved image performance. No other handsets were affected by the update.

Garmin offers lifetime nav service for Blackberry

Garmin is now offering lifetime navigation service for Blackberry users. The service costs $99, and is good for as long as a user owns their Blackberry. The service is not transferrable to a new phone, so if you find yourself changing it up pretty often then this one probably isn’t for you.

Ringtone Junkie and Bible Translation for BlackBerry

Handmark is concentrating on BlackBerry these days by announcing two new applications for the smartphone. Ringtone Junkie ($19.95)  and Bible Translations will be available by the end of the May and both seek to enhance the BlackBerry experience.

Bible Translations gives unlimited wireless access to 16 Bible translations and Ringtone Junkie lets one download, store, access, and assign custom ringtones to the BlackBerry Address Book.

AT&T to Carry BlackBerry Bold First

AT&T has officially announced that they will carry the BlackBerry Bold in the U.S.  even though RIM assures that the handset would be available on T-Mobile, Sprint and Verizon.

"AT&T will be the only U.S. carrier to offer the [Bold] when we begin selling it later this year. I also want to make sure you know that AT&T will be the only U.S. carrier to offer a BlackBerry that has international 3G capabilities and the only U.S. carrier to give its customers the ability to use their BlackBerry in such countries as Japan and South Korea," AT&T representative John Kampfe said on the matter of the BlackBerry Bold.

BlackBerry Bold Becomes Official

RIM has announced the  BlackBerry Bold officially and it should hit the global markets by this summer for around $400. The Bold is the first BlackBerry to support high-speed HSDPA and also features integrated GPS and Wi-Fi. AT&T will be the first to carry it in the US.

According to the folks over at CrackBerry, the much-anticipated BlackBerry 9000 will go by the name of BlackBerry BOLD. Not the most imaginative name out there but we guess RIM really wants to promote it as something different and daring.

BGR has cleared the confusion on the upcoming BlackBerry 9000. Looks like there will be two avatars of the 9000 which are codenamed Javelin and Niagara. The Niagara is an Evdo device slated to debut on Verizon next year.

BlackBerry Curve Debuts on Verizon Wireless

The BlackBerry Curve is now officially available on Verizon Wireless, so looks like we don’t have to wait till May 9th as reported earlier. Verizon is offering the smartphone for $219after a 2 year contract and a $50 rebate.
