German iPhones subsidized down to $155
Added on 2008-04-03 15:39:00
by Mark Brezinski

T-Mobile, who's selling iPhones over in Germany, has begun to offer subsidies on the popular device. They're selling the phones for the US equivalent of $155. The one catch is that users need to sign up with their "holy crap: minutes" plan which runs a hefty monthly fee of about $140.

Regardless, the very presence of a subsidy is an interesting turn of events: this is the first subsidy offered on the iPhone. This could perhaps indicate that Apple will be more flexible with their pricing and distribution model than they have been in the past. Also, this fire sale seems a very convenient way to clear out inventory before the rumored 3G iPhone gets officially announced.
