E-mail and Web for Smartphone Plan by Verizon

Another new plan to be announced by Verizon Wireless is the E-mail and Web for Smartphone plan. This new plan gives the user the option of accessing e-mail, surf the net and bookmark their favorite Web pages right from their Smartphones. The plan supports up to 10 personal e-mail accounts and also offers an unlimited data allowance for e-mail and Internet browsing.


E-mail and Web for Smartphone is available for $29.99 monthly access with a qualifying voice plan through business sales channels, at www.verizonwireless.com

BlackBerry Pearl 8120 Debuts on T-Mobile

The BlackBerry Pearl 8120 is finally available on the T-Mobile website and is retailing for $149.99 after an $150.00 instant discount and $50.00 in rebate. The smartphone as expected supports the HotSpot @Home wireless service.

Glofiish M810 and M750 Announced by E-TEN

E-TEN Information Systems officially unveiled the Glofiish M810 and M750. Both devices are targeted at the new breed of phone users like bloggers, podcasters, video makers, and chatters.

The Glofiish M810 includes Wi-Fi and HSDPA where as the M750’ supports EDGE and Wi-Fi. Both the Glofiish M810 and M750 should be available worldwide in two to three weeks.

Velocity Mobile Debuts

Smartphone makers like RIM, HTC better pull up their socks as there is a new player in town, which means business. Velocity Mobile debuted yesterday and  unveiled the  Velocity 103 and Velocity 111 smartphones. Both run on the Windows Mobile 6.1 OS and feature HSDPA/HSUPA, quad-band GSM, 2 megapixel cameras, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS etc.

BlackBerry Pearl 8120 on AT&T

No more lugging around the antiquated Pearl as the BlackBerry Pearl 8120 finally debuted on the AT&T Network. The 8120 can now connect to Wi-Fi 802.11b/g networks but doesn’t support AT&T's high-speed 3G network. The BlackBerry Pearl 8120 is retailing for $200, with a two-year contract.

Sprint Mogul Upgraded to EV-DO Rev. A

Sprint in conjunction with HTC has released a new software upgrade for Mogul which makes the windows device run on the Rev. A network.  According to Sprint, Mogul users will experience download speeds of 600 Kbps-1.4 Mbps and upload speeds of to 350-500 Kbps. Sprint's Mogul is available for $199.99 with a two-year service agreement and a $100 mail in rebate.


The software upgrade provides several key enhancements :

Adds advanced GPS functionality including the software for Sprint Navigation.

Adds a Task Manager to the Today screen for easier access and management of Running Programs.

Improves Bluetooth performance including usage with Phone As Modem and wireless stereo headsets.


Corrects an issue where Windows Live Messenger content may be erased when the device power cycles.

XPERIA X1 Coming to AT&T?

The sharp-eyed folks at Phone Mag spotted an AT&T logo in the menu of the much-anticipated XPERIA X1 device. Which of course leads to one conclusion  that it would be AT&T carrying this uber-cool windows mobile device. Too early to make assumptions? Well only time will tell.

Motorola Releases Update for Q9m

Motorola has released a system software update for the Motorola Q9m which is a Windows Mobile device. To download the update head over  to the Motorola website here.

What you need:

    * 400MHz or higher processor speed
    * 256MB RAM or higher
    * Approximately 250MB of available hard disk space
    * Available USB port (USB 1.1 or higher)
    * Internet connectivity (Internet Explorer)
    * Windows XP (Service Pack 2) or Windows 2000 (Service Pack 4) or Windows Vista 32

Samsung U940 Renamed to GLYDE

The Samsung U940 has been rechristened as “Glyde” by Verizon Wireless according to the folks over at Engadget Mobile. The device is rumored to make its debut in late March.

HTC to Improve Video Performance

HTC in a press statement acknowledges that some of their smartphone were showing sub-par performance in video related tasks and are working on a solution. Hence the Think Tank at HTC will soon release a software update, which will improve the video performance of some of its smartphones.

“Some of our top engineers have investigated video performance on our devices and have discovered a fix that they claim will dramatically improve performance for common on-screen tasks like scrolling and the like. The update is in testing and we hope to release it soon.”

European Launch Of Samsung SGH-i780 Confirmed

Samsung has announced the European availability of the SGH-i780 Windows Mobile 6 Professional handset. Orange and Telefonica will carry the phone but there will an unlocked version available too. European buyers are expected to shell around €549 to get their hands on this i780.

ROM Update For AT&T Tilt

HTC has released a ROM update for the Tilt smartphone and for more details head over here. The version 1.62.502.0 is only for the AT&T Tilt and to confirm what version you are running go to Start > Settings > System Tab > Device Information.

This software update provides:

    * Enhanced Bluetooth performance.
    * Enables DTMF tones for the slide-out QWERTY keyboard.
    * Improves overall device performance and stability.
    * Includes Microsoft Adaptation Kit Update (AKU) 0.4.4.

Samsung G810 Cellphone

Mobile connoisseurs will appreciate the Samsung Line up at WMC, Barcelona. The one phone that caught out attention was the Samsung  G810, which runs on Symbian S60 and maybe seeks to compete with Nokia?

The Samsung G810 sports a traditional slider design and comes equipped with features like GPS,Wi-Fi, GPRS/EDGE capabilities,  a 5 megapixel camera and HSDPA support. No word on pricing or availability but this one is definitely to watch out for.

i-mate Ultimate 9502 & Ultimate 8502

Two more smartphones made their debut yesterday.The i-mate Ultimate 9502 and the Ultimate 8502 are both been marketed as high-end Windows Mobile devices and will be available soon.

The Ultimate 9502 is a slider phone which has been equipped with a QWERTY keypad. The handset includes video output for connecting to TVs or projectors and one also comes across support for HSUPA, Wi-Fi and GPS. The Ultimate 9502 on the other hand sports a candy-bar design and features a 2.6-inch touch screen.

ROM Upgrade for Sprint Treo 755p

Palm has released a new ROM Upgrade for the Treo 755p users who are on the Sprint network. Those who have version Treo755p-1.04-SPNT require the new update, which will take approximately 45 minutes. According to Palm the upgrade improves audio, stability, software quality and device usability.

Unlock Treo Palm 500 Smartphone Hits European Shores

An unlocked version of the Treo Palm 500 Smartphone has been released in Europe for a sale price of £269. The 500 runs on the Windows Mobile 6 Platform and draws it juice from a Marvell XScale processor. Measuring 110 x 61.5 x 16.5mm, the smartphone also comes equipped with a 2MP camera.

The SMT5800 Windows Mobile phone is now available on the Verizon Wireless. The Windows Mobile 6 Standard smartphone supports Verizon's 3G cellular wireless network and includes a slide-out QWERTY keyboard. The SMT5800 is available for $300 after a $50 mail-in rebate and a new two-year contract.

Unlocked Treo 500 in UK?

Reg Hardware is reporting that Palm will release an unlocked version of its Treo 500 smartphone by the end of next month in the UK. The unlocked version will have features similar to the 500v which include; Bluetooth, tri-band GSM/GPRS connectivity, microSD card support and 3G.

Treo 680 users can now hit the update button as Palm just released a new system update. The software works with only Cingular and AT&T handsets and is a ROM update. NetFront 3.4 for Windows Mobile now Available

Windows Mobile users can now download the technical preview version of NetFront 3.4. The latest version is available on the Access website and it now supports the latest standard markup languages: HTML (HyperText Markup Language), XHTML (eXtensible HyperText Markup Language), and WAP2.0 (WML1.3). The trial period for this software expires on February 29, 2008.

BGR has got some new information on the highly anticipated BlackBerry 9000 aka the iPhone killer. The handset will tote an Intel XScale PXA270 processor ( 624MHz )which makes it faster than the iPhone and the addition of both Wi-Fi and 3G makes us want to buy it pronto. Other goodies include; 1GB of on-board memory, 2MP camera and 480 x 320 touch-screen.

HTC Touch Plus on T-Mobile UK

The HTC Dual will be available on T-Mobile soon however it will go by the name of T-Mobile 'Touch Plus'. Specs are identical to the HTC Dual, so no unexpected surprises there. No word on pricing or availability and you can have a look at the manual here (PDF link).
