RIM on their website acknowledged that there is a security vulnerability in the PDF distiller of some versions of the BlackBerry Attachment Service. CrackBerry is reporting that the BlackBerry Kickstart will be sold by T-Mobile for just $49.99 with a standard 2-year contract! Sounds a little far-fetched but RIM does want this one to be as consumer friendly as possible.

It looks like Boy Genius Report picked up some information about the upcoming BlackBerry Thunder touchscreen device. According to them the phone will be a Verizon exclusive, at least initially, and will not sport a physical keyboard. We're not sure how much BlackBerry fans are going to enjoy losing their beloved keyboard, but we guess everyone is competing with the iPhone (review) now.

RIM, RBC and Thomson Reuters announced a $150 million venture capital fund which would be open to all mobile platforms including mobile commerce, vertical and horizontal enterprise applications, communications, social networking etc. The Fund is to be co-managed by JLA Ventures and RBC Venture Partners.

AT&T to Carry BlackBerry Bold First

AT&T has officially announced that they will carry the BlackBerry Bold in the U.S. even though RIM assures that the handset would be available on T-Mobile, Sprint and Verizon.
"AT&T will be the only U.S. carrier to offer the [Bold] when we begin selling it later this year. I also want to make sure you know that AT&T will be the only U.S. carrier to offer a BlackBerry that has international 3G capabilities and the only U.S. carrier to give its customers the ability to use their BlackBerry in such countries as Japan and South Korea," AT&T representative John Kampfe said on the matter of the BlackBerry Bold.

Bell Announces BlackBerry Unite!

Bell recently announced the availability of BlackBerry(R) Unite!(TM) software. A free download that runs on a PC, the Unite provides small groups of up to five BlackBerry users with mobile access to email, web browsing, a shared calendar, shared contacts, pictures, documents, and other desktop computer content.
BlackBerry Unite! is available as of today for Bell customers to download at bell.ca/unite.

RIM has announced the BlackBerry Bold officially and it should hit the global markets by this summer for around $400. The Bold is the first BlackBerry to support high-speed HSDPA and also features integrated GPS and Wi-Fi. AT&T will be the first to carry it in the US.

BGR has cleared the confusion on the upcoming BlackBerry 9000. Looks like there will be two avatars of the 9000 which are codenamed Javelin and Niagara. The Niagara is an Evdo device slated to debut on Verizon next year.

On downloading the application, a user has to push on their phone's green "talk" button and say either the name of a business, type of business, or the keywords "weather," "movies," "traffic," "map" or "driving directions."
