Palm Treo 750 Cell Phone Review - Conclusions

Who’s It For
Business user – The Treo 750 is an excellent device for a business user. It provides a range of functionality, is a solid messaging device, fits in well with corporate environments using Exchange Server and is relatively reliable. Our only concern for business users is that the talk time is not where we would like to see it.
Budget callers – The Treo 750 is not a good choice for budget callers. At $399.99 with a two year contract, that’s more than some people are willing to spend on 10 phones, much less one. If you are looking for a smart phone at a budget, consider the Cingular 3125, which is available for $99.99 with a two year contract. Otherwise, take a look at the free or nearly free options offered by your carrier.
Chatty teenager – The Treo 750 might be a good choice for a chatty teenager who is interested in moving up to the smart phone category and wants a good messaging device. The presence of threaded SMS is certainly a bonus, as are the media functions. That being said, we wish you luck in convincing mom and dad to shell out $400 for a phone. Also the device lacks aesthetic appeal and is probably more bang than you need.
Media maven – The Treo 750 is a good choice for a Media Maven who wants a fully featured device that can handle a wide range of media. With synchronization to your desktop built in via Media Player, you can easily get your music and videos onto your device. Although its camera is only 1.3 megapixels, it does well for a camera at that level. It is rather expensive however and the 240 x 240 resolution screen means that videos won’t take up the full screen. If you are looking for a smart device to be your mobile media center you might want to consider the Samsung Blackjack instead.

Conclusion
The Treo 750 from Cingular is the latest update to the Treo lineup. Packing Windows Mobile 5 with various Palm enhancements, we found it to be an extremely usable smart phone. Although the specs are nothing too special when compared to other phones, we found the complete package to be very good. Points we were particularly concerned about include the relatively low resolution screen, lack of Wi-Fi, price, and talk time. Windows Mobile 5 also has a fairly steep learning curve, so be sure that you’re willing to put the effort into learning how to use it. If you can put up with these things however, you will find the Treo 750 to be an excellent and fully featured smart device.
