iPhone release date confirmed: July 11th

The big day is here, the iPhone 3G was released today and of course we have our full review of the phone available here. Enjoy!
Apple's new iPhone 3G will be available on July 11th. The phone will sport updated features like support for AT&T's 3G network with speeds up to 1.4 mbps and GPS. It will also include the new iPhone software update that will add support for third party applications and Exchange Server integration. The phone will be subsidized by AT&T for new customers and those eligible for upgrade. Those customers will pay $199 for an 8GB iPhone 3G and $299 for a 16GB iPhone 3G.
AT&T stores will open at 8am on July 11th to sell the iPhone 3G, no word on plans for Apple stores yet. Customers who are not eligible for a discount will pay $399 for an 8GB iPhone 3G and $499 for a 16GB iPhone 3G. Calling plans will be as follows:
$69.99 - 450 minutes, unlimited data
$89.99 - 900 minutes, unlimited data
$109.99 - 1350 minutes, unlimited data
$129.99 - unlimited minutes, unlimited data
Unlike the original iPhone the new version will not include any text messages with base plans. You will need to pay $5 for 200 messages, $15 for 1500 messages or $20 for unlimited messages. Family plans will also be available for the iPhone 3G.

June 29th, iPhone release date. It's official.
Apple sure threw us a curve ball today, with rumors circulating around the interwebs of some sort of announcement of a release date, Apple soft announces through an advertisement during CBS's 60 Minutes. Now, June 29th will be the day the iPhone hits the streets. No exact words on specific territories, or any sort of formal press release, but it's on.
