At the Macworld Expo keynote speech yesterday, Phil Schiller announced some major changes for the iTunes Store. iPhone 3G owners can now purchase music over the 3G network and much more of the iTunes music catalogue is now available DRM-free.
Previously, only a small portion of the iTunes music catalogue was available for purchase without DRM protection. As of yesterday, music offered by four major music labels, including Sony BMG, Universal Music Group, Warner Music Group, and EMI, are now available DRM-free at 256 kbps. iTunes offers an easy one-click option to upgrade your library to DRM-free versions of previously-purchased music.

New pricing is also coming to the iTunes Store for music. Previously fixed at $.99 for individual songs, the new pricing structure that will go into effect in April 2009 provides 3 different price points: $.69, $.99, and $1.29.
iPhone 3G users are now able to browse and make purchases from the iTunes Store directly on their devices. This was previously only possible while connected to a Wi-Fi network.
