So we're done downloading and installing the
iPhone 1.1.4 firmware update and as we've seen elsewhere in the blogosphere there's really nothing to get worked up over here. Some are reporting they've noticed some changes like Safari feeling snappier, the camera taking better photos and better signal strength, but of course that's all stuff that's subject to "I just updated it" syndrome, so take it with a grain of salt. What we can say for sure is that none of the major problems that people complain about have been addressed, there's not Flash support in Safari, no copy & paste and no MMS support.
As far as the SDK goes, we'd be surprised to see a minor .01 update bring those features. We expect to see firmware 1.2 come along when Apple's ready to let you install third party apps, but that's just our speculation. We imagine that this firmware does
something though, but likely just minor bug fixes that, we hope, improve usability a bit. So hold onto your hats still, cuz the big stuff is still coming down the line. Of course Apple could make a fool of me by releasing the SDK and a bunch of applications in the next few hours, but I'm willing to take that risk.
