Verizon Wireless today announced the availability of the XV6800 Windows Mobile Professional smart phone. The XV6800 is the successor to the XV6700 and sports a slide out QWERTY keyboard, 2.8 inch touch screen, Wi-Fi and support for Verizon's high speed EVDO data network. The XV6800 is manufactured my Hight Tech Computer (HTC), which produces the majority of Windows Mobile devices worldwide. The HTC Mogul on the Sprint network is the same underlying model as the XV6800. The XV6800 is available from Verizon's website today and will be available in stores on on December 5th. The phone will sell for $449.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate and a 2-year contract agreement.

The XV6800 runs Windows Mobile Professional, the touch screen version of Windows Mobile. The device includes Office Mobile, which allows users to view and edit Word and Excel files as well as view PowerPoint presentations. With a full QWERTY keyboard the XV6800 is a messaging focused device and supports push email in conjunction with a Microsoft Exchange Server. Other features include a 2 megapixel camera, Micro SD card for expanded memory and Bluetooth 2.0 with support for wireless stereo headphones. HTC has produced a variety of handsets with the slide out QWERTY keyboard design running Windows Mobile, with all four of the major U.S. carriers carrying some variant of this design.
