19 December, 2007 - Verizon announced this week that they will be making available the Palm Treo 755p smart phone. Running Palm OS the 755p is a minor upgrade over the existing Palm Treo 700p, with only minor aesthetic upgrades. The 755p will is available immediately for $399.99 with a two-year contract agreement and after a $50 mail in rebate. This is $150 more than the same handset from rival Sprint, which has had the 755p in its lineup for several months.

Palm recently announced that their financial results for the quarter ending November 30th will fall short of previous guidance. They cited the failure to launch a handset as a contributing factor, but it is not known if the Treo 755p was that handset. Palm has faced difficulties in recent years as its Palm OS has failed to receive a significant update and it faces increased competition in the smart phone market from devices like the iPhone.
