Verizon Motorola Razr Maxx VE First Impressions Review - Software

The Motorola Razr Maxx VE runs Motorola's proprietary operating system with the Verizon Brew interface. The home screen has indicator icons along the top, with two soft keys at the bottom. You can change the backround on the home screen, as well as change themes for the entire phone. You can access four programs using the four directions of the D-Pad. The menu can be accessed via the D-Pad's select key. The operating system felt responsive and quick in our brief use.

Once you hit the menu key you can use the left/right keys to move between five different upper level menus: Settings & Tools, Get It Now (which includes multimedia applications), Messaging, Contacts and Recent Calls. Each of these menu has a list which includes associated applications and commands. We did not find the organization of the menus to be particularly intuitive, for example the camera can be found in the Get It Now menu, which doesn't make a lot of sense to us. We were not able to test the browser or games on the Maxx, however we expect it to use the same browser and have the same gaming capabilities as other Verizon Brew phones.
