Ubuntu To Be Ported to Mobile Platform

Ubuntu, one of the more popular desktop Linux platforms will be ported to mobiles by the end of the year. Linux handsets currently hold the 2nd highest market share of smart phones globally, behind Symbian based handsets, and we imaging that moving a popular and standardized platform to mobile phones will only boost their share. Details are sparse though, and it is still being questions whether this mobile version of Ubuntu is going to be for cellular phones or larger internet tablet devices. We should see the new mobile edition of Ubuntu this October in conjunction with an update to the desktop version.
