28th Dec 07 – Looks like UK iPhone users are embracing the online features that the iPhone offers; the head of the UK iPhone network provider O2 recently claimed that 60 percent of iPhone users are sending and receiving more than 25 megabytes of data a month. The claim was made in an interview with the Financial Times with O2 head Matthew Key on the success of the iPhone in the UK. In the same article Kay claimed that only 2 per cent of other phone users sent or received over 25 megabytes of data, which, he claims, underlines that mobile data services can be attractive if they are correctly packaged. "Here's absolute proof that if you get the proposition right, customers will use data," said Key.
UK iPhone users pay a flat monthly fee of between £35 (approx $69) and £55 (approx $109). All of these calling plans include unlimited data use over O2's EDGE network, as well as WiFi access through hotspots.
