Touch Diamond from HTC poised to compete with iPhone

HTC today announced their latest touch screen device at an event in London. The Touch Diamond is the successor to HTC's popular HTC Touch (review) device. Running Windows Mobile 6.1 with the latest version of HTC's TouchFlo interface, the Touch Diamond is supposed to make interacting with Windows Mobile with just your finger a more enjoyable experience. The Touch Diamond sports new styling as well as support for 3G connectivity and an upgraded 3.2 megapixel camera. The Touch Diamond is poised to compete with Apples upcoming 3G version of the iPhone (review).HTC's TouchFlo interface runs on top of the underlying Windows Mobile software and the newest version on the Touch Diamond includes 3D effects like the ability to flip through a virtual rolodex of your contacts. HTC expects the Touch Diamond to be available in Europe in June and in North America in the second half of 2008. They announced partnerships with several European carriers today including Orange.
