TeleNav Updates GPS Software

11th June 2007 - Telenav, Inc. has introduced a new version of their widely used TeleNav GPS Navigator software. Version 5.2 adds a number of new features, including the ability to send your location and direction to it by SMS message; a boon for anyone sitting in a restaurant waiting for their partner/hot date to turn up.

The new service (which TeleNav calls Location Sharing) will allow TeleNav subscribers to send any cell phone user an SMS message that links to a map showing their current location, and a set of directions to get to it. If the recipient is a TeleNav subscriber, they can use the service to get turn-by-turn directions.

And if you’re wondering if the restaurant is worth the trip, TeleNav also now includes business reviews and ratings. Previous versions have included business finders (which could findd a florist within a mile if you suddenly remember that it’s your anniversary). You can also add your opinion on businesses from your cell phone, so if the restaurant is really bad, you can let people know.

The new version also includes the ability to create routes and favorite addresses online; users can pre-plan a route on their PC, then save it to their phone for later use. Favorite adresses can also be saved and edited from the PC, which is much easier than doing ti from the handset.
The new version of the TeleNav software is available now for select Sprint handsets, including the LG-550, the Krzr K1m and the Razr V3m.
