The Basic Plus plan from T-Mobile is an individual plan that can only be used with one phone number. The plan costs $29.99 per month. It is the lowest cost individual plan from T-Mobile You get 300 minutes that can be used during weekdays. The plan does not include unlimited evening calls, but does inclue unlimited weekend minutes. Free long distance and roaming, caller ID, conference calling, call waiting and voicemail are included. Additional minutes cost .40 cents each.
This plan's closest competitors are Sprint's Basic Plan, AT&T's Nation 450 with Rollover plan and Verizon's America's Choice 450 plan. The Verizon and AT&T plans come in at 8.9 cents per minute, while the Sprint plan comes in at an astronomical 15 cents per minute, while T-Mobile's Basic Plus plan costs 10 cents a minute. This is one of the few times where you will pay more for a T-Mobile plan, as you can see from the chart above they tend to have a lower cost per minute than other carrier plans. You shouldn't necessarily pay too much attention to cost per minute however, as total cost is just as important. It does you no good to pay more money for minutes you will never use.
Amongst T-Mobile plans you can spend $10 per month more for the Get More plan, which doubles your minutes and adds unlimited nights to the package. You can also consider the myFAves 300 plan that allows you to make unlimited calls to 5 numbers of your choice but does not include unlimited calls to other T-Mobile customers.
The Basic Plus plan from T-Mobile might be a good choice for users who make a limited number of calls and see their usage rise on the weekends. For most individuals though, we would suggest spending the extra $10 a month to upgrade and avoid those nasty overage fees.
