Today Symbian announced the newest version of their operating system for mobile devices, Symbian OS 9.5. This version is supposed to offer processor and battery optimizations as well as goodies like support for new camera features and mobile TV standards. Symbian OS powers most of the smart phones on the planet, although their market share in North America is less than stellar.Users probably won't see this update for quite awhile yet as handset makers like Sony-Ericsson and Nokia need to work the upgraded operating system into their UIQ and Series 60 user interfaces.
