March 14, 2007 – Sony UK added the Walkman W660 to their product line, heightened with the launch of the Snap-on Speakers MPS-75 that will allow users to listen to their music out loud. Pricing has not yet been announced, but the Sony W660 and MPS-75 will be available during the second half of the year.As the name implies, the Sony Walkman W660 carries music capabilities. In addition to FM radio support, users can listen to up to 4.4 hours of music. The W660 accepts external memory for 470 songs on listening with the 512MB Memory Stick Micro or 1000 tracks on a 1GB card, according to a company release today.
The Sony W660 also features a TrackID function that identifies songs without artist or album information. Users can record a few seconds of the unknown song using the microphone or from the FM radio, and the TrackID feature will access Gracenote Mobile MusicID to name that song.
The Sony Walkman includes a 2 megapixel camera and a Picture Blogging function for instant upload. The W660 includes full HTML web browsing, Bluetooth capabilities, and RSS feeds.
In addition, users can now attach stereo sound speakers to the phone with the newly launched Snap-On Speakers MPS-75. The MPS-75 has an integrated FM antenna and weighs less than 4 ounces.
