Value (8.0)
We have to say that we're quite impressed by the Z750a. For a $50 device, with a contract and after a $100 rebate, it's quite capable. The camera is better than average, battery life is solid and the phone doesn't lack in the features department, although it's no smart phone. We would have no problem recommending the Sony-Ericsson Z750a to anyone looking for an entry level device, and we think it would be $50 well spent for anyone who purchases it.

Sony-Ericsson W580i - When we reviewed the W580i we thought it one of the nicer entry level devices we'd seen. The Sony-Ericsson z750a matches that consideration and exceeds it in places with a better camera, support for 3G and better battery life. We think most users would be happy with either device, but at this point the Z750a is probably the better bet.

Razr2 V8 - The V8 was the best of the Razr2 devices we looked at. In terms of functionality it's probably comparable to or slightly better than the Z750a with a couple exceptions. The Rarz2 V8 does not suport high speed 3G networks as T-Mobile had not deployed their network when the phone was launched and the Z750a's battery life is better. The Z750a is also significantly less expensive than the Razr2 V8, but of course you're giving up a bunch of style points for the sake of those savings. We think it's worth it for most, but if you've got to be stylish the V8 is not a bad choice.

Nokia 6555 - If you're looking at entry level flip phones on AT&T you're probably considering both of these devices. Let us make it easy for you, go with the Z750a.

Samsung M520 - The M520 is another very capable device that won't cost you much. The Z750a has a much better camera, but aside from that the two devices are pretty similar in terms of capabilities. The M520 is much more stylish, in our opinion, and that may make the decision for you. Other factors to consider are carrier, the Z750a is AT&T only while the M520 is Sprint only, and form factor, slider versus flip. We don't think you'll go too far wrong with either device.

T-Mobile Shadow - The Shadow is a full fledge Windows Mobile smart phone, which means it's going to give you messaging and organizer capabilities that the Z750a simply can't. If you need a smart phone the Shadow would be the way to go, but if you don't we find the Z750a to be more compelling. It has a better camera, better battery life and is one third the price.
