Cellular Bands (8.0)
The W580i is a quad-band (850/900/1800/1900) GSM phone. This means it will work on any GSM network worldwide. This is a bonus over CDMA handsets like the Chocolate VX8550, which are not usable overseas. World travelers will appreciate this flexibility. Our score for cellular bands is based on the total number of bands supported.
Data Support Score (3.0)
The W580i supports AT&T's EDGE network. It does not support the newer and faster 3G network. EDGE is pretty ubiquitous and will give you speeds up to 250 Kbps. Still, as AT&T's 3G network has been growing rapidly we would have appreciated the extra speed this would have brought.
Bluetooth (9.5)
The W580i supports Bluetooth 2.0 connectivity. It supports a good selection of profiles including SyncML, dial-up networking, serial port, music streaming service, A2DP, AVRCP, PAN network access point, hands free, headset, OBEX object push, and OBEX file transfer. We were easily able to set up a headset and a set of Bluetooth headphones to work with the W580i.
Wi-Fi (0.0)
The W580i does not support Wi-Fi.
Infrared (0.0)
The W580i does not support Infrared.
