Sony Ericsson W350 Cell Phone Review - Battery Life

The W350's call time battery life came out at less than the claimed time, but it's still not bad at all. Music playback and web browsing battery life were also decent. Despite a tiny battery for a tiny phone, the W350 should last long enough for demanding users between charges. For more information about our battery tests see this article.

Call Time (8.0)
The W350's claimed talk time battery life is "up to 7 hours" but it fell just shy of this in our tests at 6 hours and 40 minutes. Despite this shortfall, it still put up the best call time battery life among all of our comparison phones and the W350 should have no trouble keeping up with frequent talkers.

Music Playback (7.57)
The petite W350 managed an impressive 10 hours and 31 minutes in the music playback battery test. While this is a good amount of time, it's still bested by the LG Chocolate 3 and Samsung M520 among our comparison phones, but this is nothing to be ashamed of since all but the most fanatical music listeners won't hit the W350's limit on playing back music on a typical day.

Web Browsing (6.92)
To test battery life, we start off with a full-charged battery in the phone, navigate to a test web site that refreshes automatically every 10 seconds, set the screen to its brightest level, and time how long the battery lasts. The W350 lasted a decent 5 hours and 46 minutes, posting one of the best web browsing times among our comparison phones, second to only the Nokia 5310.

Idle Time unscored
In order to complete our reviews in a timely manner, we don't test and score claimed idle time since this can take multiple days or even weeks. The W350's claimed standby time is up to 12.5 days. Idle time is largely influenced by cellular signal strength - the further away a phone is from a tower, the harder it works to maintain a connection, which drains the battery more quickly, and GSM phones are more drastically affected by this than CDMA phones. During our time with the W350, we had no problems with its standby time as it held a charge well without requiring frequent charges.
