Pricing & Value
The pricing of the C903 has not yet been announced. The current spec sheets indicate that it will only come with a charging cord and a stereo headset, and with the press release announcing the C903 declaring it to be part of their mid-range offerings, we don't expect a sky-high price tag on this device. Though no carrier partner for the U.S. market has been announced, we think that it's highly likely the C903 will be offered through a carrier with a subsidy to put it under $150. After a new device has been released, its price tends to go down over time, and the C903 will probably end up at a lower price point after several months.
Comparisons
Sony Ericsson W580i - The W580i is the aging predecessor of the C903 with fewer features, but it's still a decent all-around device. It's currently being phased out and may be a little hard to find, however. Though we'll have to see what the C903's price will be, we'd definitely recommend trying it out over the W580i given its higher-spec camera, aGPS, and other web-integrated features.
LG Chocolate 3 - The Chocolate 3 is a music-oriented device offered by Verizon that matches the C903 with GPS and 3G connectivity. Its flip form factory isn't as stylish as the C903's neat sliding form factor, but it's still a capable device overall and it's currently available for $129.99 with a 2-year contract. At this price, it may come in a bit under where the C903 could end up, and is worth a look.
Nokia 5310 - The 5310 is a teeny tiny music-oriented phone offered by T-Mobile. It has a poor camera and can't record video, but it does a pretty good job with music playback. It's definitely more cute than stylish and won't offer the level of connectivity that the C903 will. It's currently offered by T-Mobile for $50 with a 2-year contract and could be a very budget-minded alternative to the C903.
