OS
The C903 runs a proprietary operating system. It looks a bit different than what we've previously seen on other Sony Ericsson devices, including the W580i, and apparently includes features intended to streamline connectivity with internet services for blogging, uploading pictures to online services, and more. It was responsive during our short time with the demo unit and was easy to navigate.

Home Screen
The C903's home screen shows the information you expect to see with the signal strength indicator in the top left, battery level in the top right, the time and date at the bottom above the labels for the soft menu keys and the D-pad's center select button. One new feature is wallpaper animation that automatically switches the wallpaper image on the home screen after a designated period of time, which a special effect during the transition. It's a little distracting but is perfect for those who don't like to stare at the same image in the background all the time.

Extensibility
Sony Ericsson phones with their proprietary operating system are notoriously un-extensible when it comes to 3rd-party applications. However, the C903's specs indicate that Java applications can be loaded, which opens the door for some games and the Opera web browser, among others.

Browser
The C903's screen is fairly small and browsing a full HTML web page is possible, but takes a bit of button pressing to see the whole page.
