Call Time (6.72)
To test call time for cell phones we make a call to the phone using Skype and pipe an audio book over the connection to simulate conversation. The Sidekick LX lasted 5 hours 36 minutes in our talk time test. Although not as impressive as some of the Sidekick LX's other battery life scores this is still a very good score, well above average. You can see below that only the iPhone and Curve put up better talk time than the Sidekick LX on this test.

Music Playback (7.25)
To test battery life when playing music we set the handset to play back a standard album at maximum volume using the loudspeaker. We set the album to play repeatedly and see how long the phone lasts before the battery runs out. The Sidekick LX lasted an impressive 10 hours and 4 minutes in our music playback test. We were very happy with this performance, it allows you to use the Sidekick LX as a replacement for a stand alone music player without worrying too much that you're going to kill your battery. This performance puts the Sidekick LX in the same company as the LG Voyager, BlackBerry Curve and iPhone, all of which also did well on this test. It's significantly better than the performance of the AT&T Tilt or Helio Ocean.

Web Browsing (10.68)
To see how long the battery on the Sidekick LX lasts when browsing the web we point the web browser to a web page that is set to refresh every ten seconds. We then make sure the screen stays on and time how long it takes for the battery to run out. The Sidekick LX continued its strong performance in battery tests by lasting 8 hours 54 minutes in our web browsing test. This is an excellent time, you can see that amongst our comparison phones below only the BlackBerry Curve performed better. It should be noted that the Sidekick LX's performance in this test is aided by the use of the battery friendly EDGE network while many of our comparison phones use much faster and more battery intensive 3G networks. This means you'll be able to browse for a long time on the Sidekick LX, but it won't be particularly fast web browsing.

In order to ensure that we deliver reviews in a timely fashion we don't test idle time. T-Mobile's stated standby time for the Sidekick LX is four days.
