Value
The Serenata is a fashion/luxury phone, which means you're getting a pretty face but not much under the hood. In this case, you're not even really getting a pretty face, but you are getting some nice speakers. The asking price is $1600, which we honestly think is at least $1200 too much. Really, when you buy this phone you're just buying a nice, miniature set of speakers that can make phone calls sometimes. This phone might beguile a few media mavens out there, but we have to advise against getting caught in its thrall.
Comparisons
Apple iPhone - The iPhone is the perfect polar opposite in terms of a user interface. Unless you're an audiophile, we'd recommend the iPhone, as it's price is one quarter that of the Serenata's.
Nokia E90 - We thought Nokia's E90 wasn't a very good deal at $1100, and it's like a smart phone glued to a mini-laptop. It had excellent functionality and an incredible internal display. The Serenata offers none of this functionality and costs $500 more.
Nokia N81 - Though nowhere near as good as the Serenata's, the N81 has a decent set of speakers on it (again, for a cell phone) and is less than half the price of the Serenata. You'll also get a ton of great Symbian Series 60 functionality for the $600+ you pay. Really, the Serenata just makes expensive phones look like much better deals.
