Conclusion
We had very high hopes for the Memoir give its camera specs and it didn't disappoint, posting top-notch results in every area except for noise. However, it didn't present such an improvement over other good camera phones we've seen to make us want to rush out and buy one and give our dedicated digital cameras to Goodwill. The Memoir as a phone is a slightly better-than-average touchscreen device but still doesn't offer the intuitiveness or smoothness we've seen in other touchscreen phones. As with the Motorola ZINE, we're compelled to say that you could still do better with a dedicated digital camera and a free cell phone with a 2-year contract if you really want to capture good pictures while you're out and about. If you are bound and determined to carry only one device, the Memoir could do the job for you, but it will cost you an arm and a leg at its fresh-to-the-market price right now.
Business User
Without a native email client and with text message rates applicable to every email you send and receive, the Memoir is absolutely out of the question for business users. Next!
Budget Callers
The Memoir costs $249. Move along folks, nothing to see here...
Chatty Teenager
The Memoir posted better call time battery life than claimed by the manufacturer and it will probably keep up just fine with the chatty teenager. SMS and MMS functions were also very good and what teenager doesn't like to take pictures of their friends at school and out on the town? The Memoir could do very well for the chatty teenager if their parents are okay with paying the $249 price tag for it.
Media Maven
Ah, the media maven will love the Memoir for photo taking when a digital camera isn't at hand. With good music playback software and capabilities and a nice big screen on which to watch videos, media consumption will also be a nice experience on the Memoir. Media mavens hereby have a new cell phone to consider buying.
