| The Instinct supports Sprint's EVDO Rev A network, which means faster download speeds than standard EVDO. The Bluetooth support isn't as wide as we would have liked, but the basics are there. |

Cellular Bands (4.0)
The Samsung Instinct is a dual-band (850/1900) CDMA handset that is locked to Sprint's CDMA network. CDMA is not as widespread as the more popular GSM standard, as such the Instinct isn't a good phone for those who travel overseas a lot. Sprint's network is reasonably widespread in the U.S., however. Our score for cellular bands is based on the total number of bands supported.
Data Support Score (7.0)
The Samsung Instinct supports Sprint's EVDO Rev A network. This is an upgrade to their standard EVDO network and provides a significant bump in speed from an average of 500-800 kbps up to 800kbps to 1Mbps, with burst speeds up to 1.5Mbps. EVDO Rev A is not as widespread as standard EVDO and in areas where it is not available you will fall back on that network. Where no EVDO is available you'll fall back on 1XRTT, with maximum speeds of around 100 kbps.
Bluetooth (7.5)
The Samsung Instinct supports Bluetooth 2.0, but doesn't have as wide a selection of profiles as some phones like the Nokia N81. The supported profiles are A2DP, AVRCP, Dial Up Networking, Object Exchange, Phone Book Access, Headset and Hands Free. We had no trouble pairing the Instinct with a Bluetooth headset.
Wi-Fi (0.0)
The Samsung Instinct does not support Wi-Fi.
Infrared (0.0)
The Instinct does not support Infrared.
