The Samsung Glyde's call time is just about average, but music playback and web browsing times both came in above average. For more information on how we conduct our battery tests see this article.
Call Time (5.86)
The Samsung Glyde lasted 4 hours 53 minutes in our test of call time. You can see below that this is just about average for a phone. In practical terms it should be fine for most callers to get you through a couple of days, but if you use the device more than average for things like music playback and web browsing it might only last you a single day. For this test we make a call to the handset using Skype and then pipe an audio book through the connection to simulate conversation.
Music Playback (6.94)
In our music playback test the Samsung Glyde lasted for a reasonable 9 hours 38 minutes. This is quite long enough for you to be able to listen to several hours of music a day and still have some juice left over for making calls. You can see below that the Glyde's performance in this test was significantly better than average and amongst our comparison phones only the iPhone did significantly better than the Glyde, with the Sidekick LX doing slightly better and the LG Voyager about the same. In this test we set an album to play looped at maximum volume.
Web Browsing (6.36)
The Samsung Glyde's web browsing performance was solid at 5 hours 18 minutes. You can see below that this is significantly better than average and amongst our comparison phones only the Sidekick LX did significantly better, and it's not running on a more battery hungry 3G data network as the Glyde does. For this test we point the phone's browser at a web page that is set to refresh every ten seconds and make sure the screen does not turn itself off.
Idle Time unscored
In order to ensure that we deliver reviews in a timely fashion we don't test idle time. Samsung's stated standby time for the Samsung Glyde is 250 hours.
