Cellular Bands (8.0)
The Blackjack II is a quad-band GSM devices, meaning it will function on any GSM network worldwide. This makes it a good choice for world travelers. Our score for cellular bands is based on the total number of bands supported.
Data Support Score (8.0)
The Blackjack II supports high speed 3G data, just like the original Blackjack did. What is new is that it supports not only AT&T's bands but also the 2100 Mhz band for use on international 3G networks. This makes it one of the few truly global high-speed data device out there. The Blackjack II supports HSDPA, which provides speeds up to 3.6 Mbps on AT&T's network, although in practice you'll find yourself topping out around 1Mbps in most cases. When you're not in a 3G coverage area you will fall back on the slower EDGE or GPRS networks, with speeds between 80-250 kbps.
Bluetooth (7.0)
The Blackjack II supports Bluetooth 2.0. It supports a decent selection of profiles including A2DP and AVRCP for stereo headsets, Service Discovery, Sync, voice gateway and object push. We were disappointed that there's no support for using the Blackjack II as a modem for your computer via Bluetooth. We were able to pair it up with a Bluetooth headset without too much trouble.
Wi-Fi (0.0)
The Blackjack II does not support Wi-Fi, which isn't as big an issue since you can get high speed data via AT&T's HSDPA network.
Infrared (0.0)
Like most modern phones the Blackjack II doesn't support Infrared for short range line of sight wireless connectivity.
