Who's It For

Business User

Business users will find the Blackjack II an excellent alternative to a BlackBerry device. Although Windows Mobile has a slightly steeper learning curve it's native integration with Exchange Server and very good email support will meet business user's needs. Throw in the excellent price, very good QWERTY keyboard and decent battery life and you have yourself a nice business device.

Budget Callers

Budget callers looking for a smart phone should definitely consider the Blackjack II. You can find some smart devices for as little as $50 with a contract, for example the BlackBerry Pearl refurbished from AT&T, but the Blackjack II offers features like GPS for only $50 more, a great value.

Chatty Teenager

Chatty teenagers will actually find a lot to like about the Blackjack II, from the solid messaging support, multimedia functions and excellent keyboard for typing out text messages. It may be more phone than most teenagers use, but at only $99 it's competitive with many standard phones and it's something a teenager could grow into.

Media Maven

Media Maven's will like the Blackjack II's solid music and video playback functionality but the camera is pretty poor and there are better multimedia devices out there like the iPhone. If you're on a budget, though, the Blackjack II makes a good stop gap multimedia phone.

Conclusion
The Blackjack II is a very compelling device. Despite some flaws like a poor stills camera and a steep learning curve with Windows Mobile Standard the phone does most things right. It brings high end features like 3G connectivity, GPS and a powerful smart phone OS at a very comfortable price and we're sure will be attractive to many who are looking to get into the smart phone realm for the first time. We're glad to see that many of the flaws of the original Blackjack have been addressed, including poor battery performance and an almost unusable D-Pad. The QWERTY keyboard is one of the best we've seen and despite some annoyances about the other control keys and proprietary ports the Blackjack II is a great value.
