Samsung Beat for T-Mobile Cell Phone Review - Conclusion

Who's It For

Business User

Business users won't find any appropriate organizational or messaging software on the Beat. Look elsewhere.

Budget Callers

Budget callers will probably want to wait to see if the Beat's price falls, because at $50 it's probably on the higher end of what they're willing to pay. Even without a price drop, however, the Beat is a nice option for an inexpensive music handset.

Chatty Teenager

Chatty teens won't find anything noteworthy in the Beat. They'll like the ability to set their music files as ringtones, but beyond that they'll probably be asking the parent(s) for a Razr of some kind.

Media Maven

The true media maven will snub the Beat and its rudimentary software and capabilities. Those who just want a phone to play them music, but also don't have much of a budget may appreciate it's simple charms.

Conclusion
The Beat is another phone that makes an educated consumer's choice easy: it has a very specific demographic. If you need a professional device, look elsewhere. Likewise, if you're looking for an iPod competitor, you won't find it here. The Beat will play music for cheap, and does so with some extras sprinkled on. At $50 it won't bankrupt anyone who's phone shopping, and is a much better option than the Razr V3m or Krzr, neither of which had enough battery life to last them through a few trainrides worth of music listening and moderate phone use.
