Summary

Call Time (5.28)
The Samsung Ace lasted four hours twenty-four minutes in our call time test. You can see from the chart below that this is slightly below average for all phones. Amongst our comparison phones only the HTC Touch did worse than the Ace, although the Pearl 8130 wasn't too much better. The Ace's time is just above what we would consider the low end of reasonable for cell phone talk time. What this means is that light to moderate users should be fine with the battery life, but anyone who spends a lot of time on their phone may want to consider investing in a second battery or carry a charger around with them.
Music Playback (6.98)
The Samsung Ace lasted nine hours forty-two minutes in our music playback test. This is above average for all phones and amongst our comparison phones only the iPhone and Nokia N82 performed better. We were quite pleased with how long the Samsung Ace lasted in our music playback test, this should give users who want to use the device as their principal music player plenty of juice to listen to music for several hours while still having battery left over to make a call.
Web Browsing (5.22)
The Ace's web browsing time was very similar to the talk time at four hours twenty-one minutes. You can see below that this is slightly above average for all cell phones, and was middle of the pack for our comparison phones as well. Given that the Ace uses a fairly battery hungry EVDO network this is pretty reasonable, although anyone who browses the web a lot on this device should probably consider an extra battery or carrying a charger with them.
Idle Time unscored
In order to ensure that we deliver reviews in a timely fashion we don't test idle time. According to Samsung the standbye time for the Ace is 10 days.
