Here is today’s round up of stories that are catching the attention of the mobile connoisseurs and the tech industry. RIM has rechristened the BlackBerry KickStart 8220 to the Pearl 8220 and Telus Mobility expands their portfolio. More after the jump:

Looks like RIM has done a flip-flop when it comes to naming their first ever flip phone. The Kickstart 8220 will now go by the name of the  Pearl 8220. So which name do you prefer? The more exuberant “Kickstart” or the more sedate “Pearl”?

HTC fanboys will be excited to know that the Touch Diamond  will debut on August 14th on Telus Mobility. Telus will retail the   handset for  $150 with a 3-year contract. Commitment phobic? No worries as one can purchase the handset sans contract for $450.

Universal Pictures action flick Death Race will soon be adapted as a mobile game by Gameloft. The mobile game promises to be as thrilling as the movie and will launch on all major carrier decks in August 2008."Having the exclusive mobile game available just weeks before the launch of one of summer's most anticipated films is a great   opportunity for us", stated Gonzague de Vallois.

The BlackBerry Curve will soon be available in pretty pink for $99.99 after rebate on Verizon Wireless. First red, now pink, looks RIM wants the handset to be a hit with the fairer sex.
