Palm Treo 755p Cell Phone Review - Connectivity

Cellular Bands (4.0)
The Treo 755p is a dual band (800/1900) CDMA handset that is locked to Sprint's network. CDMA networks are rare outside of North America so this isn't a good choice for anyone whose a world traveller. Our score for cellular bands is based on the total number of bands supported.

Data Support Score (6.0)
The Treo 755p supports Sprint's high speed EVDO network with average speeds between 500 and 700 kbps. If you aren't in an EVDO coverage area you will need to fall back on the slower 1XRTT network with maximum speeds of 100 kbps. If you're in an EVDO area your connection should be fast enough that you won't have any problem browsing even full web pages.

Bluetooth (7.0)

The Treo 755p supports Bluetooth 1.2 and a decent selection of profiles including dial-up networking, a serial port, voice gateway, object push, file transfer, sync, and mouse and keyboard. We wish that it also supported A2DP and AVRCP for wireless stereo Bluetooth headphones. We did find setting up a standard headset to be easy and straightforward.

Wi-Fi (0.0)
Like all other Treos before it the Treo 755p does not support Wi-Fi connectivity. At a time when this is becoming a standard feature on smart phones we can only say we're disappointed by this lack.

Infrared (7.0)
In the meantime, Palm continues to support the rapidly aging and almost obsolete infrared standard for short-range, line-of-sight wireless connectivity. Don't get us wrong, we don't mind having infrared on our handsets, we would just much rather have Wi-Fi.
